A Walk Through The City is an audio piece featuring narration and urban environmental sounds taken from a city. The author intended to bring a poem to life with the cross over between realistic and constructed compositional sounds. This structure of the poem narration layered over ambient sounds is dramatized throughout the piece when volumes of sounds increase to enforce the sinister tone. This is showcased through sounds such as sirens, pinball machines and heavy traffic. As well as the layering of different sounds including the narrative - which from an audiences perspective can give an impression that the piece expresses danger and distruction, it also at times creates sounds which are uncomfortable to listen to, to correspond with the message from the poem that city life is intimidating. I believe this audio piece is successful in projecting it's message. This is because the narration layered with the urban environmental sounds creates a sinister atmosphere which as well dampens the mood of the production, and makes it easier for its audience to create feelings towards the meaning behind the narrative.
